DESIGNER BIOGRAPHIES

Louise Cecil

Louise Cecil has been involved in the artful application of creative imagination for more than 30 years as a specialty costume designer in Louisville.  She says she always thought she had a gift of prophecy and knew that her face and figure wouldn’t last forever.  This is how her career evolved from modeling to costuming.  She is strongly connected to the University of Louisville via her design talent.  She was the first person to develop the UofL mascot from a half-bird/half-person costume to the full Cardinal Bird costume which fans readily recognize today.  Louise is skilled in the design of couture clothing as well as custom-made costumes for individuals and mascots.  She is proud to lend her needle and thread skills to the Animal Gambill couture pet clothing and accessories line.

Although primarily a painter, Marissa also enjoys creating in other media such as stained glass and fabric.

Actively raising funds for various causes, Marissa is a part of a global team which is dedicated to providing clean drinking water to various parts of the world in need.  She is also a facilitator in the creation of Uganda Women Empowerment through Crafts, to assist in alleviating poverty in Uganda.  Most of these women are internally displaced survivors of the Northern Ugandan wars.  Marissa is kindly lending her creative talents to the Animal Gambill couture line of pet clothing and accessories.

“The Judes” - Judy Drury & Judy Kessinger

For over 25 years these two adventurous women have owned their own business, traveled the US for a national chain, and even created and produced  patterns and videos.  Judy and Judy loved sharing with those who sew and those who'd love to.  Since retiring, they have kept busy with family and hobbies.

Sherry Lynn

Sherry was born and raised in Louisville, a divorced mom of one son, which is all grown up now but will always be her baby boy.  Her career is respiratory therapy - her therapy for that is making jewelry.  She dabbled in it since her teen years and has always collected beads.  Buying the beads just wasn't enough to satisfy her artistic nature - therein lies the beginning of creating her own beads.  She chose glass because she has always been partial to it's beauty. Sometimes she controls the melted glass into what she wants and sometimes just lets it flow into what it wants to be.  One thing is for sure, they are one-of-a-kind treasures.

Becki Winchel

Becki Winchel is a volunteer who has a problem with saying no, especially to animals in need.  And…sweet Lilly needed a new winter coat. Marissa Garcia kindly invited Becki to help with this project.  She was told of her love of sewing and of animals by her long time friend and Becki’s sister, Venita Winchel.  Becki also enjoys helping her friend Kathy transport critters out of harm’s way to no-kill shelters and into loving forever homes.

Sherrie Stine

From Louisville, a graduate of Nelson County High School in Bardstown, KY.  She studied art & photography at Murray State University.  She has always been artistic & creative in many mediums.  Her specialties are wall murals and hand-painted mens’ ties.  That creativity helped her claim the title “local Louisville artist.”  She learned to sew at home at a fairly early age.  For years she enjoyed making costumes for herself, then family & friends, & their friends.  Then came prom dresses, clothes for special events…concerts, weddings, etc.  There is not just the satisfaction of having something unique to wear but also there was the enjoyment & pride of creating each item.  She loves the details and giving each piece a little something extra.  And now she is thrilled to be involved in Collars & Couture.  A designer creating “Top Dog” clothing for pooches and kitties “Putting on the Dog”….. or the Ritz.  The quality detailing is impressive.  The pieces are not typically available elsewhere.  Oh yes!!  She does have a day job!!
